And from there they went out and began to go through Galilee, and He was unwilling for anyone to know about it. For He was teaching His disciples and telling them, "The Son of Man is to be delivered up into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise again three days later." But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him. And they came to Capernaum; and when He was in the house, He began to question them, "What were you discussing on the way?" But they kept silent, for on the way they had discussed with one anohter which of them was the greatest. And sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all." And taking a child, He stood him in the midst of them; and taking him in His arms, He said to them, "Whoever receives one child like this in My name is receiving Me; and, whoever receives Me is not receiving Me, but Him who sent Me." Mark 9, 30-37 |
The Parish Council of St. Boniface Church consists of six parishioners, who meet once every two months. Their main involvement is pastoral. Visiting shut-ins and the sick is of great concern. Arranging for lectors, communion helpers, alter boys and girls, as well as Sunday School for the parish children, is another responsibility. Chairperson: Hans Jakubczyk

The Elisabeth Group was founded in 1954. Their main goal is to support the parish through joint work. The ladies meet on the last Tuesday of every month to plan up-coming events and discuss arising problems. In the past, members of the group cooked and baked for food fairs, bingos, bazaars, dances, and important family celebrations. Now their work is concentrated around smaller celebrations and funeral lunches. For many years now, profits from their labours have also been sent to the missions. For this reason, a handicrafts group, begun in 1975, continues to be active and allows men to participate as well. The main project is the annual Christmas Bazaar, an always profitable venture. "Gemütlichkeit" is the name given to a group of seniors at St. Boniface Church. They meet twice a month during the afternoon for a "gemütlich" (cozy, friendly, comfortable) get-together with coffee and cake; hence the name! New seniors are always welcome. The St. Boniface Children's Liturgy group meets at 10:00 am every other Sunday. At present, there is one group of approximately eight children, ages four to six. The two leaders plan activities and songs according to the week's gospel message. The children also become very involved in religious holidays, and a special performance is prepared for the Christmas Season. After the instructions, which are held during the Liturgy of the Word, the group gathers with the rest of the congregation for the celebration of the Eucharist. The children experience this celebration and join in the hymns and closing prayers. Coordinator: Doreen May
